Comments

After waiting for a few hours in Kista Strait near Mawson yesterday for the winds to subside to operational levels we were able to deliver the priority cargo to station. The operation went well with the Mawson expeditioners holding up signs they had made for our return. Unfortunately the distance made it difficult to read them so hopefully a couple of photos may find their way to us. It is always interesting standing on the bridge watching wind speeds waiting for an operational window. We go from one display that gives us the wind speeds at the ship and another that give us the wind speeds at station. Sometimes it feels like you will wear the carpet out on going from one display to the other.

Once our mission was complete and we loaded our boat onto the ship we were heading back to Davis. We are wondering if travelling through iceberg alley and Framme Bank (Mawson – Davis – Mawson – Davis. ) three times in one week has been done before by an AAD chartered vessel. I don't recall it happening before.

We will be back at Davis tomorrow to complete the resupply and then head home.

Cheers
Leanne, Simon and Amy
