It was another big day yesterday with a substantial amount of RTA cargo loaded to the vessel. The Deputy Voyage Leader and the Chief Mate have done an exceptional job in 'shoe horning' cargo into all available space on the ship to maximise the amount of cargo loaded from Mawson – it is a pleasure to watch. Cargo loaded also included another heavy lift, the crane from shore to ship. Another well executed activity done safely and efficiently. The scientists returned after completing their work at the Rookery Islands.
We have not been able to start cargo operations today due the wind being outside our working parameters. We will see what this afternoon brings.
Though we are at Mawson we will be going to Davis to bring home winter and summer personnel as well as priority cargo. Davis is not far from our minds as we work on plans for the next stage of our voyage. We are looking forward to catching up with friends as the come onto the ship to head home.
Cheers
Leanne, Simon and Amy
