Comments

On reaching the Dalton Polynya we headed south for the corner between
the Totten Glacier and the pack ice. The ice in this area moves very
slowly as it is locked in place by icebergs grounded on shallow banks,
and is quite different to the steadily moving band that flows past the
northern entranced to the polynya that we have been battling through.

Unable to reach the area of most interest we turned back for the open
water of the polynya, and are currently undertaking an ice station enroute.

The weather is expected to deteriorate with possible blizzard conditions
and 40kts winds later this evening.

Cheers

Andy and Mike
