The trace elements pack ice sampling went well taking six hours from the brow (apparently a 'brow' is a gangway that is not fixed to the ship; I always thought that was 'The Plank', but there you go...) touching the ice till it was lowered back on deck.
This morning the ice had eased a little and we had another crack at breaking our way north, with cautious success at this point...
