Comments

This morning we have slipped over the eastern side of Gribb Bank and are back in deep water. We are making an almost northerly course; climbing steeply out of the southern latitudes to evade the worst of a low pressure system forming somewhere to the north of us. We won't be able to completely avoid it but if we can get far enough north then with luck we will get pushed to the east by the system instead of being blocked by it.

The ship is consistently rolling 7 to 8 degrees from side to side this morning and this movement, apart from the fact that we are now well north of the 60th parallel, is a reminder that we are starting to leave the Antarctic behind us. However there are enough ice fragments and occasional ice bergs to remind us that we are still not in Kansas anymore.
