Comments

Ice breaking progress has been slow and many comments have been made to the effect that we need to find a new name for fast ice. Last night when I went to bed, we had 2.1 nautical miles to go. This morning it was 1.8 miles as we were badly slowed down by some pressure points caused by tide cracks. Nevertheless we are pushing on. Yesterday we managed to launch helicopters and transfer 31 people ashore to Davis to commence safety inductions and begin transitioning the station for resupply.

I was informed yesterday by the Davis Station Leader that they had run out of frozen vegetables and the only thing they had left were brussel sprouts. We have fought a strong urge to insist that they finish their brussel sprouts before getting anything else.

Helicopter operations are continuing this morning with further personnel and vegetable transfers. We will shut down operations briefly at 11am for Remembrance Day.
