A few minutes ago, I watched the latitude flick past the fifty degree mark and thus we have officially left the roaring forties behind us. Last night, we made a slight southerly side step in our course to avoid a nasty low pressure system; it seems to be working so far.
At the beginning of our voyage, as all 92 expeditioners gathered in the mess for a final briefing, I wondered if we would all be able to find seats at mealtimes. However it hasn't been a problem with a few people preferring to lay low until either the weather or their stomach settles; the only sign of their presence being fellow expeditioners in the central stairwell discreetly carrying small plates of food up from E deck.
We plough onwards; secure in the knowledge that it will all be worth it.
