The ship departed windy Hobart this morning at 0600. We dropped anchor and spent around eight hours off white rock in the Derwent River where we successfully completed calibrations on Aurora’s three echo sounders. Whilst calibrations were undertaken staff also set up the back deck with support from P&O personnel for trawling trials tomorrow. Set ups were also completed for the Conductivity Temperature Depth (CTD) rosette, rectangular midwater trawl (RMT), trace metal winch and Aurora’s various laboratories. A very big day put in by all, most people have gone to bed early tonight looking forward to a big and productive day tomorrow.
REGARDS: Phil and Rick.
