It’s day 50 of the voyage and possibly a unique situation as I am possibly the only Voyage Leader in the history of the Australian Antarctic program to have delivered the entire complement of expeditioners to a station (including the Deputy Voyage Leader) and left them there without picking anyone up.

I am the only expeditioner left on the ship. The AA crew are on board and flat out doing checks and surveys. As the expeditioners went ashore in a bit of a hurry I’ve stayed on board and have been making myself useful tidying up the coffee cups, cleaning off the whiteboard and doing laundry.
We are currently cruising around near Mawson as the Aurora Australis is meticulously checked over. We continue to take things one day at a time.
