Tuesday morning finds us doing a CTD at waypoint 1003. Notable events of the past 24 hours include:
Brian and Tom from Science Technical Support once again made Ruth’s day by taming some of her truculent electronics. (Temporarily anyway.)
Environmental briefings for all expeditioners hoping to step ashore at Mawson began.
The bongo net was lost at sea during a deployment. No more tropical fantasies on the trawl deck but at least we’ve still got the baby bongo.
The final trace metals deployment was carried out early yesterday and it will be some time before another roll of gladwrap is used for purely scientific purposes on the trawl deck.
Di reminds me that we completed our reference station at the early hours of yesterday at the beginning of leg 9 and discharged the final SOCCOM float.
The weather is closing in on us as we approach the continent.
