The ship has now passed 77 degrees east which means we are on the same longitude as Davis which is 430 nautical miles to the south. We are currently in about 3000m of water doing a final CTD on the BANZARE bank before we re-enter deep water.
It would now seem fair to say that we have more than passed the half way mark of our voyage. The weather is looking OK for a few days more but it looks like we might get some strong winds for our last day of marine science operations before arriving at Mawson.
It is, of course, Valentine’s Day down here but we are still awaiting the deliveries from the florist. You did remember, didn’t you?
