As threatened, it is a bit bumpier this morning as we plough on a mostly westerly course towards our next station. Once again, we are climbing out of the deep water up onto BANZARE bank. Currently, the depth is about 2200m.
Nonetheless, it could be a lot worse and we are all staring at each other wondering when the good weather will stop. By the standards of this part of the world, we have encountered extraordinarily good conditions. There is further sunshine this morning but the breeze is a little stiff at 20 to 30 knots right on the nose.
Planning for the Mawson resupply is ramping up and our watercraft and plant operators will soon be putting away their newly developed skills in vegetable peeling, pelagic fish identification and giant jellyfish wrestling in order to try and remember exactly why they got on this ship in the first place. Was it something to do with….boats? ... fuel? ... cranes?
Hmmm… Really not sure. It will come to us.
