Cargo continued all day yesterday with around 25 lifts of cargo weighing around 125 tons transferred ashore.
The Caterpillar 966 front end loader which weighs around 25MT and then the slightly heavier D6 bulldozer were transferred ashore. They were lowered to the barge whilst the crew watched from an Inflatable Rubber Boat (IRB), a safe distance away. On arriving at Casey heavy timber ramps were fitted to the barge and they were driven ashore.
The overnight trip to Wilkes was a success as was the drone aerial flight to map the station in 3D (like Google Maps).
We are still expecting the weather to deteriorate towards the evening, so at some point this evening we will head to sea for a couple of days to weather out the worst of the storm (we are expecting winds at the anchorage to reach 40-60Kts).
Cheers,
Andy, Vic and Eloise
