The Saturday muster went well with expeditioners mustering on the helideck with full Antarctic survival clothing and life jackets for the first time, in reasonably warm but quite windy conditions.
A meeting was held after lunch to brief the team and check the procedure for the deployment of the first of 9 Argo buoys to be deployed at 3am tomorrow morning.
The Argo buoys drift at the surface before sinking to 1000m below, where they drift for 8-10 days before sinking further to 2000m and then rising to the surface again, to transmit the data they have collected by satellite back to Australian and other research scientists.
Cheers,
Andy and Vic
