Comments

We departed Hobart last night at 10:00pm fully laden with cargo and over a million litres of Special Antarctic Blend (SAB) diesel fuel to deliver to Casey Station.

The initial departure was delayed slightly by a few tricky loads that didn't quite fit where they should, but the ships crew stepped forward to assist the stevedores with the last loads and lashing cargo to get us away in good time.

Most expeditioners are resting up after the busy days leading to the departure (a few are still getting their sea legs).

The Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) was deployed after breakfast this morning and will be reloaded every 330-450 miles from now on, with the spools of gauze that trap the plankton and other stuff that passes through it, recording a sample of life in the water column from Tasmania to Antarctica.

A planning meeting was held to plan the planning meetings we will need to plan the resupply. We will meet tomorrow to discuss the meeting schedule!

Cheers,

Andy and Vic
