The sea conditions remained reasonably calm last night enabling all on board to sleep comfortably for the first time this trip. The large swells and the crashing of water over the bow of the ship is pretty spectacular but makes it very difficult to do much. Core muscles get a good work out as you keep balanced on your chair and leg muscles from going up and down stairs every day.
This is my last sitrep for Voyage V1A and I wish to thank all who have put in the hard yards especially at Macquarie Island, on the Aurora Australis and at the Australian Antarctic Division. This enabled us to leave Hobart quickly, successfully undertake our mission and return to Hobart safely. I also wish to thank the Voyage 1 Davis expeditioners for their patience and look forward to sailing with them when we depart Hobart on Thursday.
We are scheduled to arrive tomorrow morning at 0630.
Cheers Leanne and Mick
