This morning we had an emergency muster drill including getting into the lifeboats. It is essential to know where to muster, which lifeboat you should be in and how to get in and out. It is not easy but for everyone’s safety we must know how to do the above quickly in the event we need to. We also were shown how to use flares in a safe manner in the event that we need to use them to attract attention. This is the serious side of being at sea – we need to practice these drills so we are well honed in the case of emergency.
We have left the ice behind. This morning there were still remnants of decaying icebergs but they have now disappeared. The ice has now been replaced with white caps on the waves.
This morning whales were sighted and many birds - albatrosses and petrels. There were even sightings of up 10 sooty albatrosses and petrels sitting in the water having a rest.
Cheers Leanne and Mick
