Another beautiful day at Davis even if on the cool side. Refuelling continued overnight and is progressing well. The cargo going to Davis has been completely discharged from the ship and this afternoon we will commence accepting cargo to return to Australia (RTA). There is a team setting up to wash the containers before coming to the ship. This is one of the biosecurity measures taken to prevent transference of material from Antarctica to Australia.
A walking track between the ship and shore was opened today much to the delight of many. Everyone loves the chance to get out in the open and walk on the ice. A track is put in for pedestrians that is away from cargo operations so that it is safe for them to walk ashore.
Those that have been on the ship for over two weeks are keen to stretch their legs.
Cheers Leanne and Mick
