The much improved sightings conditions today yielded two pods of sei whales otherwise cetacean sightings were few. The large numbers of albatrosses, petrels and shearwaters more than compensated for the lack of whales – at least for some people on board.
We are still hearing pygmy blue whales to our north although our sonobuoys are also detecting sounds from a seismic survey which makes getting clear detections and bearings to the whales much more difficult.
Packing, cleaning and report writing continued through the day.
