We’ve again had a big day of planning for our arrival at Macquarie Island. The weather is looking like it will make it a bit more challenging that we had hoped, but no one really expected Macquarie Island to turn on sunshine and smooth water for us at this time of year so we’re all taking the forecast in our stride. We have completed our helicopter safety briefing, refuelling briefing and environmental briefing today with a only a couple more topics left to cover tomorrow before we are all ready to embark on our island adventure. The helicopter walk around today was a great chance to enjoy being out on deck and watch the albatross make their slow circles around the ship.
The sea state gave us a slightly rougher ride last night but is still being quite kind to us. Most people have now found their sea legs and meal times are getting busier. Clocks have been put forward one hour so we are now observing UTC+11. We look forward to seeing Macquarie Island appear on the horizon tomorrow afternoon.
REGARDS: Nicki and Mike
