Comments

Some time during the night we left the ice behind and entered open water. Unfortunately the winds are in the high 30 knots and the 6-7m swell is from the north west, whilst we are trying to travel east, north east. As a result we are rolling heavily at times.

At one point we managed a series of rolls that were around 35-40 degrees each way, depositing the contents of the bridge and most of the cabins on the deck. The Captain was almost late for our phone hook up with the AAD Director and the Minister as a result!

We are now trying to find a good balance between speed and comfort for the return home in the hope that we'll arrive on the VL's birthday!

Cheers,

Andy and Simon
