Yesterday afternoon the barge plied back and fore with cargo. We successfully moved all of the cargo ashore and are now focussing on Return To Australia (RTA) cargo.
The ice forming overnight is still breakable by the smaller watercraft which are working constantly to keep a channel open for the jet barge, which is less capable in this sort of ice (its jets can become clogged with ice particles).
We intend to have all expeditioners aboard by this evening, with the exception of those necessary to assist in operations at Davis and the crew for two helicopters, which will stay ashore to transfer passengers and the remaining cargo if the ice conditions preclude watercraft operations.
Cheers,
Andy and Simon
