We made our way south out of the heavy pack and into more open water yesterday.
Overnight we transited to Davis and dropped anchor in time for breakfast.
Alex and Greg who have been with us from Hobart are now finally ashore at Davis where they will spend the winter. For some reason they didn't seem too sad to be leaving us... We will of course miss them!
Cargo is moving back and fore on the jet barge with the two smaller inflatable boats being used to keep a channel free of ice between ship and shore so the jets don't get clogged with ice particles.
We are all enjoying the slower pace set by a one kilometre transit from the ship to station here at Davis verses the 200 metre run at Mawson!
Cheers,
Andy and Simon
