Comments

Last night we completed the Monolith box and 4 RMT's.

Today we are attempting to retrieve moorings deployed a few years ago by the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE). JARE has previously attempted to recover the moorings using the in built acoustic release but were unsuccessful. It is believed the acoustic release batteries may have expired.

We will attempt to lasso or grapple the moorings on the sea floor using a kilometre or two of wire rope with a string of grapples and weights attached. Fingers crossed...

Some satellite services to the ship failed overnight but are now functional.

In addition to the usual humpback and mike whales a pod of orcas was viewed from the bridge this morning.

Cheers,

Andy and Simon
