Comments

Yesterday the winds didn't drop low enough for the return trip of the heavy bulldozer so we moved other cargo instead and set up for refuelling operations.

This morning the winds dropped off by 0900 and overwater passenger transfers commenced.

Despite the perfect conditions, rather than return the heavy bulldozer to the ship, we have commenced the higher priority transfer ashore of our last item of cargo, 1,000,000 litres of SAB (Special Antarctic Blend) fuel to run the generators and plant that are essential to keep the station alive (happy Tony?).

Refuelling requires full use of the watercraft team so barge operations are not an option at this stage, hence a helicopter was used to fly around 15 sling loads of cargo to the ship to keep us busy whilst refuelling continues.

Two full days of pumping are needed to get it all ashore and the weather looks great for the next couple of days...

Cheers,

Andy and Simon
