Comments

The clear and sunny days just keep coming

Yesterday afternoon we attempted to “lasso” the P1 mooring and after the second unsuccessful attempt we moved off to cast 4 CTD’s in order to complete the profiling grid for this Mertz area and to have a rethink about retrieving P1

This morning we have returned to the P1 area to scout around for the mooring In the event it has been dragged by ice or alternatively moved in our attempt to grab it yesterday. We will continue our efforts to retrieve this mooring into this afternoon. Later we will visit the location of mooring P3 to confirm or otherwise its inaccessibility due to it being under an iceberg.

Tonight we are planned to commence our way back to Hobart via the 139E longitude where we will conduct a series of deep cast CTD’s whilst moving north.

Cheers

Tony & Lloyd
