Yet another sparkling day with a clear sky and sunny conditions, we have been blessed with the weather this week. After completing 9 CTD’s to early this morning we arrived at the location of the mooring P2 and after some pre start preparations the retrieval operation was commenced at 0800 this morning.
With the mooring not releasing when we first attempted retrieval nearly a week ago a method involving encircling the mooring position with a steel wire cable fitted with heavy weights and grapples was developed The intention being to snare the mooring and pull it into the ship using the trawl winch. At the second attempt the mooring was successfully grabbed and retrieved. A fantastic job well planned and executed by Mark, Pud, Gerry, Benoit and the P&O crew. With this under our belt we will move to mooring P1 this afternoon to attempt the same operation with hopefully the same success.
Cheers
Tony & Lloyd
