Comments

We continue marine science in the polynya close to the Mertz Glacier.

After completion of a line of CTD’s along a North West route in the polyna we moved to the eastern limit of the Mertz Glacier front edge and proceeded to commence a line of CTD’s along the front edge of the glacier in a westerly direction. This is the first time that measurements have been taken in this location.

We will then continue a line of CTD’s in the trough carved out by the glacier. We will be seeking the deepest points.
We have completed 7 CTD’s in the last 24 hours.

The scenery in this area is absolutely beautiful, the Mertz glacier with its sheer face providing a stunning backdrop.
