Comments

We are close to concluding marine science activities in the Totten region. We carried on with conducting underway CTD operation until late last night. We also deployed an Argo float. Conventional CTD’s have again commenced. Whilst transiting the polynya to conduct CTD’s we have taken the opportunity to retrieve the gliders navigation acoustic moorings with two of the three being retrieved successfully this morning. The third one located in the pack ice will be retrieved this evening or early tomorrow as ice conditions are expected to ease.
It is planned to depart this region early tomorrow morning and head back through the pack ice and then east to the Mertz Glacier region. The last phase of the marine science component of this voyage will be concluded in that area.

Cheers
Tony & Lloyd
