Comments

We have made our way slowly to the western limit of the Totten Glacier tongue reaching it late this morning. This will be as far west as we will go. This is a significant success of the voyage. The transit featured a significant ice breaking campaign to get us into a clear area of water which stretched out like a river between the fast and the pack ice and took us to our final location at the western limit of the glacier. The scenery was spectacular with the imposing ice shelf and Glacier tongue awesome against the clear blue sky and in full sun.

CTD operations of this area commenced upon arrival and will continue along the glacier tongue moving east for the next 24 hours. We will then make our way back to the Dalton Polynya before a forecasted wind change tightens up the pack ice.

All on board especially keen photographers are in good spirits.

Cheers

Tony & Lloyd
