Comments

We continue moving from location to location within the polynya conducting various scientific activities and operations. The locations are at predetermined GPS coordinates.

It has been another very productive 24 hours. Since midday yesterday we have

· Retrieved the 2 gliders which were on pre-mission testing. There is some minor work to be done on them before being released on an 8-10 day mission under the ice.
· Conducted 6 CTD operations
· Deployed the second ARGO float
· Recovered the third moorings of a total of 6 which are to be recovered in this area.

This morning we approached the area of the M2 mooring which is to be retrieved. Its position is close to the ice edge. Upon arrival we found that the location was well into the pack ice and unable to be retrieved at this stage. The area will be revisited later into the voyage with the hope that there will be some movement of the pack exposing the mooring for retrieval.

Cheers

Tony & Lloyd
