Another good 24 hours despite a swell across the beam causing quite a roll on the ship.
The second CPR (Continuous Plankton Recorder) was retrieved this morning and the third cache deployed for the next 450 nm.
Last night we were treated to the first of many evening presentations with Chief Scientist on board Steve giving us a presentation on how the southern ocean is influencing climate change and more locally its influence on the thinning of the Totten Glacier which this voyage will visit as part of the marine science program. It was very much appreciated by all who attended. Tonight a quiz night has been organised to raise money for camp quality, a charity supported by the Aurora Australis and all who sail on her.
All on board are well.
Cheers,
Tony and Lloyd
