Hmmm: not sure what happened to the end of my message yesterday. The final sentence should have read: “Consequently we have had a “relaxed” start at the ship, but with the conditions improving we’re confident the momentum will increase throughout the day.”
And it did: we made 52 lifts from the ship, moved 229t of cargo, cleared the main hatches and fore deck, discharged cargo on the trawl deck, and made a start in the ‘tween deck too. All our summer expeditioners are ashore now, and our round-trip folks have made a start on their various projects on station. Today we awoke to what appeared to be the inside of a glass of milk, but conditions have improved, and cargo discharge from the ‘tween deck continues. Our biggest and heaviest lift of the day (of the resupply) was discharged this morning: a 19t CAT 962G Loader, closely followed by the last refrigerated container, containing frozen food for the station.
All the best, Doug and Dave
