Comments

At 1510, after much backing and ramming of ice, followed by one or two more charges for good measure (and to put a few tide cracks visible in the ice well astern of the ship), the captain declared “we have arrived!” The brow to allow access from the ship to the ice was in position at the CTD door at 1615, and most of the remaining Davis-bound personnel were transferred ashore via Hagglund taxi. Two snow groomers trundled out to the ship and began preparing the lay-down area in readiness for cargo operations. After dinner, those remaining few that were left on board took the opportunity to go for a bit of a wander near the ship on the ice, and take the obligatory “bow of icebreaker in ice, with me leaning against it” photo. This morning more people went ashore, and we have commenced cargo operations, in overcast conditions, which made it difficult to see the newly groomed road.

All the best, Doug and Dave
