Comments

We had a great run yesterday to the zone of high concentration ice, which we are now in. Conditions vary, and we are attempting to make our way from open zone to open zone, occasionally being forced to commit to some areas of consolidated pack-ice. We have approximately 30 nm of this sort of stuff to run, before breaking out into open water for the final run south to Davis. A conga line of about 150 Adelie penguins this morning near the ship confirms that, yes, we are a long way south, and definitely in Antarctica!

All the best, Doug and Dave
