Comments

The conditions for the remainder of yesterday and during the night did not swing round as much as we would have hoped, and whilst the seas were nice to us compared to the last few nights, we did not make the headway we would have liked. The result of this is that our arrival into Hobart has been pushed back by a couple of hours, and we will now be alongside Macquarie No. 3 wharf Hobart at 1230 hours tomorrow, Saturday 19 April 2014.

As this will be the last SITREP of the voyage, I would like to say a few thankyou’s to those involved in this voyage’s success.

To Muz and the crew of the AA, thanks for getting us there and back safely, thanks for all the hard work you’ve done during the voyage and thanks for feeding and watering us so well too! To the team at Davis thanks again for the work you guys did in making the long range fly off a success and thanks for your support for the remainder of the voyage, we hope you are enjoying your winter. To the Mawson teams, both ingoing and outgoing, firstly thanks for your patience and understanding during the delays to your deployment/retrieval and thanks for your work on the ground during the resupply. Hopefully Robbo’s team are fully unpacked now and settled into their new home. Thanks to all of the Ops support team of Pilots, Engineers, AGSOs, Cargo Assistants, Comms Support, Medical Support and Team Met. You worked your you know what’s off and did a fantastic job, so well done to you all! Finally, thanks to the staff back at the AAD who provided a lot of support and assistance to us during the voyage.

208 helicopter sorties, around 250 flight hours, 148,627Kg of cargo flown ashore to Mawson – which includes 47,048L of SAB and 8,101Kg of cargo back loaded to the ship. All achieved in nine days of actual flying... and we caught Krill. Well done team!

Happy Easter to you all,

Deepy and Brett
