We continue our transit through the Southern Ocean at a good rate, even with conditions picking up a little yesterday afternoon and evening which bought on a little more rolling of the ship. As predicted by Team Met though, the swell and wind is slightly behind us now which, whilst still causing the odd roll and bump, is helping us maintain a good speed. There’s a whisper creeping out of Team Met that we may be facing some big seas mid-week, so stay posted for updates on that front, (shameless use of weather pun intended). We are in into the “furious fifties” latitude wise now though, which normally does mean some bumpy sea conditions.
The kids playing in the Krill Aquarium are still behaving themselves and are doing all the things that krill who are being kept in an aquarium are meant to be doing.
People onboard are keeping themselves busy writing reports and other bits of administrative stuff whilst the usual array of non-work related activities continues to be well attended. For those that like pointless bits of useless information, today we have air temperatures that are on the positive side of the thermometer. It’s 27 days since we last had positive air temperatures on this voyage.
Cheers,
Deepy and Brett
