No flying due to the weather yesterday unfortunately. So for those on board it was a good day for catching up on some chores, maintenance and resting. Station was kept busy with winter personnel handovers, unpacking cargo and finalising RTA (return to Australia) cargo.
Today we are flying again and conditions look good for the remainder of the day. We continued to fly ashore IBCs this morning, and we have now deployed the required minimum quantity of SAB the station required. We are now flying in priority cargo, with all four helicopters taking internal and external loads ashore on each flight. With the ship being closer to station than it was last time we flew, we are able to get more flights in per day, so we are moving cargo ashore at a good pace at the moment and making some real inroads into our discharge priorities.
Both the team on the AAs heli deck and ashore are doing a great job in supporting our flight operations and have been able to develop a good routine to enable us to keep the cargo flowing to the choppers. Balmy conditions today as well, with air temps only at -10, which is much nicer that the -23 we had a couple of days ago.
Our birthday wishes today go to one of our star AGSOs (aircraft ground support officer's), Jenn. I'm sure the team at Mawson will have a nice cake waiting for you at the end of the day!
Cheers,
Deepy and Brett
