Yesterday afternoon saw the ship receive a visit by His Royal Highness, King Neptune. All personnel gathered in the E Deck restaurant to meet King Neptune, Queen Neptune as well as their royal party and pay homage to the King. Six of our personnel who had not been previously been inducted into King Neptune's realm were presented before the King and duly paid their respects to him before being formally welcomed into the King's realm and granted free passage through such. Congratulations to Bryan, Allan, Justin, Alex, Keil and Kimba.

Overnight and today we are steadily making our way along the pack ice edge en-route to our intended fly off position, which will be somewhere between 40-50nm miles from Mawson station. We should reach this location this evening. Overnight we received a fair bit of snow and this morning awoke to see the outside decks of the vessel covered in snow. Whilst this does look pretty, it will mean a fair bit of snow clearing will need to occur when we do get into position to start operations.

Final operational planning continues and those passengers that are due to be flown ashore are starting to pack bags and clean their cabins. We are now really focusing on weather forecasts for the next few days and are keeping fingers, toes and anything else we can cross crossed in the hope that this will bring us weather conditions that are suitable for helicopter operations sooner rather than later.

Cheers,

Deepy and Brett
