Yesterday afternoon we completed the helicopter transfer of an expeditioner from Davis station to the AA. The whole operation ran very smoothly thanks to the efforts of those involved on the AA and at Davis station, so well done to you all! We welcome John onboard V6 and we wish our colleagues at Davis all the best for their winter in the Riviera of the South!

It was disappointment for a few and relief for many yesterday when Station Leader Steve announced that Team Mawson had endured their final training session. Yesterday they rounded out their training with Heidi detailing her expeditioner training program for their arrival on station. This was then followed by Steve facilitating a session on Community Expectations and Conflict Resolution. The session was well received (due largely to Steve's excellent facilitation he tells me) and at the end of which The Mawsonites walked away with a 'Courageous' Conversations Tool Kit.

Six plus weeks, two voyages and several traverses of the Southern Ocean has seen 'The Mawsonites' develop, grow and evolve into a slick outfit. Together they have endured several set backs from numerous delayed starts, poor sailing conditions weather wise (well for the SL anyway), stubborn sea ice and a return voyage to Hobart... which for some meant re-visiting and re-living the grief of separation from family and friends. Through all the false starts, the build up and the anticipation they have remained positive and tight knit and it is a real credit to the group. This tolerance, patience and resilience will serve them well as the embark on a winter where they put into practice The Mawson Energy Conversation Plan as a result of a reduced fuel supply. Well done to Team Mawson.

Today we are sailing through a sea of pancake ice as we head to our proposed operating location in the Mawson region. We should arrive at this location tomorrow at some stage and then we'll spend a little time finding the optimal spot for our fly-off to be based from. Then we just need the weather to play the game for us and give us some suitable flying days.

Rumours also abound around the vessel that a Royal visitor may be paying us a visit later this afternoon... I'm sure there will be an update on that development tomorrow.

Finally, happy birthday Chloe! Hope you're having a great day.

Cheers,

Deepy and Brett
