Yesterday evening we held the first of our special occasions, which was a St Patrick's day themed event of course. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly Chris and Craig treating us all to some great guitar and mandolin playing. Thanks guys you did a great job and made it a fun night. A special mention to Lydia as well, who did a great job dressing up for the occasion.
The Mawsonites continued their ERT training and their ongoing quest to find lost expeditioners (what are they doing with them all?). With two days training behind them in developing the foundations it was time to expand on their ERT knowledge base and construct an Incident Action Plan. The session was lead by the Mawson FTO Heidi and she guided the team through the SMEAC Principles (Situation, Mission, Execution, Administration & Logistics and Communication). Before long the team had developed a briefing and mission statement followed by a detailed response, logistics and communications plan. For many this was their first time in developing such a detailed plan and all were engaged intently.
Planning for our upcoming operation continues, today personnel have been fitted in immersion suits, which must be worn in helicopters if we are doing any overwater flying. Our Forecasters and Comms Operators are running some briefing sessions today on aviation forecasting and comms.
Cheers,
Deepy and Brett
