Due to the excellent navigation of the AAs crew, utilising the weather data we reliably receive from our forecasting team, we've been able to avoid the worst of the weather that has been trying to slow our progress down. We did spend a bit of time last night rolling around as the swells were hitting us side on, but today has been pretty good and whilst we are not clear of the weather just yet we are managing to stay one step ahead of it for the time being. Here's hoping that trend continues for the entire voyage.
The second engine was also turned off last night and we are now back to running along nicely o the one engine.
There was a bit of excitement on board this morning when the American scientific research vessel the "Nathaniel B Palmer" was spotted in the distance. We ended up passing them relatively closely and we also had a brief chat with them on the radio. It's not often we get to see other vessels down this way so it was a nice sight. We wish them safe travels for the remainder of their voyage.
Cheers
Deepy and Brett
