Comments

The Aurora Australis is running on one of its two engines, the V16,
providing a blend of speed and economy that should see us arrive back at
Hobart in around a week. The second engine, a V12, can be run in
addition when faster speeds or icebreaking is required.

Being Saturday morning there was an emergency muster drill at 1030. We
are still regularly passing icebergs but it was noticeably warmer than
the last time we were all out on the helideck. Quite a lot birdlife
surrounds the ship coinciding with our passage through the circumpolar
current.

Science activities continue as we transit home with air and seawater
sampling and the deployment of the Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR).
The Davis based scientists are writing up reports from their summer on
station.

Cheers,

Andy, Brett, Dave and James
