We have made good progress at the commencement of our return voyage to Hobart. After leaving the fast ice at Davis we moved quickly through the polyna (open water) between the fast ice and the pack ice reaching the edge of the pack ice early this morning. Our progress has now been slowed and will be so until we have cleared the pack ice.
Last night we held a social evening on the trawl deck whilst we sailed past an array of stunning icebergs. The evening was complimented by delicious pizza expertly prepared by the galley. Thanks to Bob, Bec, Aaron, Tanya, Charmayne and Darcy for doing a great job.
All on board have settled in for the voyage back to Hobart and looking forward to reaching our destination especially the Davis winterers who have been away for nearly 12 months.
Cheers Tony and Mike
