Cargo operations progressed well again yesterday with all cargo being discharged from the ship in the late afternoon. A total of 580 tonnes of cargo has been off loaded. All that remains to be loaded onto the ship is RTA (Return to Australia) cargo and that is progressing well. It is planned that all wintering expeditioners returning with us to Hobart will embark mid morning tomorrow in readiness for departure which will occur when all RTA is loaded and lashed down.
It is Armistice Day today. At 11:00 am this morning all work stopped and we held a minutes silence to remember all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Also a time to stop and reflect on how fortunate we are to be here in Antarctica doing the work we do.
Last night the outgoing station leader Jason handed the keys to the station to the ingoing station leader Bill, a traditional ceremony of long standing. Jason and his team are readying themselves to join us on the ship tomorrow.
Cheers Tony and Mike
