Comments

In the last 24 hours sea ice conditions have worsened reducing our speed considerably. This has also been compounded by heavy cloud and poor visibility. The ship was stopped last night for 4 hours as visibility was so poor.
Seals and penguins are being spotted on the ice as we sail by.
Yesterday afternoon we had a visit from King Neptune and his court. Everyone was pleased to see them, well not everyone but most. He extended a warm welcome to all the new expeditioners who had never ventured beyond 60 degrees south before and they were all very appreciative. Yesterday evening we held a BBQ on the trawl deck. Later an auction was held of various items, handicraft and experiences. Monies raised are for the children’s charity Camp Quality and a total of nearly $12,000 was raised, a brilliant effort by all. Special thanks to Joe, Murray, Gerry, Wendy, Brooke, Aaron and Darcy from the Aurora Australis crew who made it a special day for us all and to Misty, Corey, Josh and Adam, the entertainment committee who got things organised.
Today we have a round of Helicopter training sessions for all expeditioners, it may be the weekend but its business as usual.
Cheers Tony and Mike
