Comments

We experienced extremely smooth conditions overnight and most caught up with some badly needed sleep. We have moved into a south westerly direction and we are now experiencing patches of sea ice.
With the calmer conditions expeditioners will this afternoon be afforded the opportunity to inspect the Aurora Australis engine room courtesy of Chief Engineer Matt. The weather is now clear and sunny and expeditioners are taking the opportunity to get on deck outside and take photographs of the passing icebergs. At 4:00am this morning the first whale sighting occurred with one of our early risers getting the photo opportunity. The bridge is now on high alert for the next one.
Spirits have risen with the calmer conditions as we look forward to our final destination.
Cheers Tony and Mike
