We have made good progress however we have remained in a southerly direction all night in order to minimise the effect of the weather system. We are now on a south westerly course. All on board are now settled into the voyage. Expeditioners on board are mostly headed for Davis however we do have a small number who will travel on from Davis to Mawson by fixed wing aircraft. The entertainment committee of Misty, Josh, Adam and Corey is up and running and will ensure we are kept entertained with various activities over the next week or so. Evening presentations by scientists on their particular interest are always a favourite. Whilst on the helideck this morning Barb photographed a welcome swallow which had taken rest on the ship. It had certainly lost its way and it appears that the strong north winds we have experienced has brought it south from its usual route. There has also been an abundance of sea birds observed and photographed by many on board. The seas were kinder to us last night and most enjoyed a reasonable night’s sleep.
Cheers
Tony and Mike
