Hello All,
Once again last night we had a rash of "after dinner whales" which we chased for photo ID and biopsy. Unfortunately the wind increased such that we were unable to launch the "Remora", but we achieved good results nonetheless.
Overnight the acoustics team kept track of several whales such that by breakfast time this morning we were again "with whales"; photo IDs were achieved, however our attempts at biopsies were unsuccessful. Having achieved all we could with the whales we have been working around for the last couple of days, we are now heading south into the entrance to the Ross sea where our crew in the "sound lounge" have several prospects. As we passage south the observers are seeing plenty of humpbacks along the way.
And Mindy lost her lens cap overboard.
Until Tomorrow,
Regards Chris, Margaret, and the VWhales Team
