Comments

Hi All,

Today has been a slow day in both the acoustics and observer departments - this is not actually a bad thing as it allows the data managers to get caught up on their sightings data. We can therefore now say that we have photo Identified 27 individual Antarctic Blue Whales(ABW), and have fluke IDs on 6 Humpbacks. We have also taken 14 biopsy samples and have tagged one ABW, so as we approach the midpoint of our scientific effort we are sitting on some good numbers.

The weather continues to frustrate our attempts to do a visual search along the ice edge, with reduced visibility and a significant following swell.
That said, we are hearing some weak whale calls to the east and south east, and as the weather hopefully improves tomorrow, we should be back in whalesville again.

And happy birthday to Mindy for today!

Until Tomorrow,

Regards Chris, Margaret, and the VWhales Team
